As a veteran, educator, and parent deeply invested in Anchorage's future, I believe real change starts with listening. Our schools are the heart of our diverse community, one of the most multicultural places in the world, and they should reflect that strength. Parents, not bureaucrats, should decide what's best for their children's education. Every child deserves to learn without fear in safe environments guided by local control from teachers and families. And with Alaska ranking 49th in public school systems nationwide, it's time to foster pride and purpose in our kids while climbing those rankings through practical steps like reducing class sizes and cutting administrative waste.
That's why I'm reaching out now: to hear directly from you. Whether you're a parent navigating multilingual households, a teacher passionate about local solutions, or a community member concerned about safety and choice, your input will shape how we build better schools together.
Introducing our Your Voice, Your Schools, Your City: Community Survey (Fall 2025), a quick, 5-minute way to share what matters most to you and your family. This survey explores your connections to Anchorage public schools, household dynamics, and key education concerns, helping us amplify underserved voices and target real improvements.
