Here is an easy side by side comparison between Alexander Rosales and Rachel Blakeslee for Anchorage School Board Seat C.

Direct comparison of multiple platforms points between Seat C candidates

Here is the real truth: Fiscally conservative w/ real world experience eliminating government waste & abuse and balancing budgets: Alexander Rosales: I was DOGE'ing before it was cool. As a Lean Six Sigma protoge who saved hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars during my military career through audits and efficiency programs, I bring proven tools to cut administrative bloat and balance budgets at the Anchorage School District. Parents want every dollar to reach classrooms, not waste. With ASD facing a $90 million deficit for FY27 and over $1 billion in deferred maintenance across its 90+ facilities, we need real-world accountability now. This is how we reduce large class sizes and deliver better outcomes for every child. Visit www.alexforschoolboardak.com to see my full fiscal plan. Rachel Blakeslee: Advocates for more spending without understanding accountability. Believes throwing money at problems fixes them. Blames others for poor results tied to funding. Supports the 12M one-time school bond & unaccountable runaway spending for schools.

Alexander Rosales: I fully support adequate funding for our schools, but I oppose the $11.8 million one-time education levy (Proposition 9) and the larger $79 million bond package on the April 2026 ballot because they lack strict accountability. Every parent in the district agrees funding matters when it delivers results. Right now, with enrollment down thousands of students since FY15 and only five elementary schools closed despite huge capacity gaps, we must prioritize outcomes over unchecked spending. My approach ensures taxpayer dollars improve proficiency rates and safety, not perpetuate inefficiency. Track the April ballot updates at www.alexforschoolboardak.com. Rachel Blakeslee: Supports all excess funding to the school district regardless of accountability.

Has a clear plan to make school safety for students & teachers a top priority.

Alexander Rosales: Student and teacher safety tops my agenda. I entered this race after life-or-death incidents were withheld from parents district-wide. Transparency is non-negotiable. Teachers tell me they feel unsafe and are leaving jobs, regardless of pay debates. My plan includes Dads in schools utilizing All Pro Dad and School Chaplains, clear emergency protocols, more school resource officers (ASD currently short five positions), and immediate parent notification. Every child deserves to learn without fear. Follow @AlexForSchools on X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube for safety updates and volunteer opportunities that build safer schools. Rachel Blakeslee: Believes that more funding will fix student safety.

Believes children should be taught to be involved in political protests.

Alexander Rosales: Kids belong in classrooms focused on learning, not as pawns in angry political rallies with hateful rhetoric. Certain family-friendly events build civic pride, but protests that capture national attention for division have no place pulling children from their education. Let kids be kids so they start each day with purpose and focus on American values that made our country strong. This keeps our diverse Anchorage classrooms united around education, not politics. Rachel Blakeslee: Believes having children around slogans like "I like d-ck" and "sh!t" are appropriate for children.

Advocates for girls in sports & trawl-free seafood in school lunches.

Alexander Rosales: I traveled to Juneau to testify for protecting girls’ sports and Title IX rights. As a Dad of two competitive soccer daughters, I will always defend every girl’s civil rights in Anchorage schools. I am also the only candidate with a concrete plan to serve local, non-trawl-caught Alaskan seafood in school lunches. This supports sustainable fisheries, cuts bycatch waste, and boosts our economy while giving kids nutritious meals from home waters. Strong girls and smart nutrition equal better student outcomes. Rachel Blakeslee: Supports ideology that strips girls of their civil rights and invades their safe spaces.

Supports local control, parental rights & American values.

Alexander Rosales: Charter schools like Eagle Academy and Aquarian top the state proficiency charts because parents control curriculum and stay involved, not outside agencies. American values built our success for 250 years; models that stray from them have failed worldwide. Anchorage ranks near the bottom nationally because we drifted too far. My commitment returns power to teachers, parents, and local communities so our kids gain pride, purpose, and top-tier results. Learn more about parental rights at www.alexforschoolboardak.com. Rachel Blakeslee: Believes that outside agencies have Alaskan children's best interest; not parents. American values are dwarfed by support for foreign countries.

Has teaching experience in ASD & understands our system from the inside.

Alexander Rosales: While transitioning from the Air Force, I taught through the SkillBridge program at Alpenglow Elementary, Ursa Minor Elementary, and Baxter Elementary. I saw daily realities for teachers, students, and parents inside ASD classrooms. Combined with knocking on over 5,000 doors across Anchorage, I understand what works and what needs fixing better than any outsider. This insider knowledge drives my practical plan to cut waste and boost rankings. Rachel Blakeslee: Taught in Texas, where our failed Superintendent is from. Currently runs a NGO that siphons resources off of our education system.

Time invested as an ASD parent of two.

Alexander Rosales: I have invested over 12 combined years as an ASD parent since moving to Alaska in 2016 after Germany. I chose our neighborhood specifically for school quality reports and have lived in the same home longer than anywhere else in my life. Alaska is home. My daughters head into 8th and 6th grade, so my commitment is personal and long-term. Parents like me deserve a voice that puts kids first every day. Rachel Blakeslee: Has one young kid in the district and one about to begin.

Supports school closures.

Alexander Rosales: ASD operates 90 facilities with enrollment down thousands since FY15 and over $1 billion in maintenance backlog. We have far more square footage than in the 1970s but shrinking student numbers. The district has advised closing over 15 schools historically but acted slowly; recent moves include Fire Lake, Lake Otis, and Campbell STEM. Seventy-nine percent of Anchorage residents support thoughtful closures with clear advance communication. This is not about less education but smarter use of resources so every remaining school thrives with smaller classes and better funding. I support rightsizing done right. Rachel Blakeslee: has publicly stated she is in support of closures. Has advocated for schools to stay open and keep continued spending.

Endorsed by Planned Parenthood, most of the ASD School Board, and most of the sitting Anchorage Assembly.

Alexander Rosales: I am not endorsed by Planned Parenthood or beholden to any political group, including the current board majority or Assembly. I answer only to parents shut out of decisions, students let down by failing policies, and teachers whose safety concerns go unheard. With ASD near the bottom nationally and facing massive deficits, Anchorage needs independent leadership focused solely on kids. I am the Veteran, Dad, and educator who brings fresh perspective and real change. If you want to keep things the same with last in the nation results; vote for my opponent. We only get one shot to educate our kids. Rachel Blakeslee: Endorsed by the status quo and also endorsed by the same organization that has committed more harm to communities than any other organization since 1947.

Career overview. Alexander Rosales: My 20-year Air Force career highlights proven results-based leadership while teaching, government audits, Lean Six Sigma efficiency work, six deployments, a Master’s degree earned while serving, Instructor of the Year honors, and international recognition as Air Force Sergeants Association Member of the Year out of 110,000. I am also a Dad, Veteran, educator, coach, and community volunteer who earned the Volunteer Service Medal. One thing I am not: a career politician. I am here to serve Anchorage families with fiscal responsibility and proven results. Rachel Blakeslee: Career funding advocate and hand selected by the education cabal.... Because she knows better than you do what is best for your kids. More funding is the only phrase she can parrot to fix our schools.
