Dear ASD Community,
Why I’m Running for Anchorage School Board
I am running for Anchorage School Board because our district urgently needs strong leadership to address the financial mismanagement and lack of transparency that have persisted for too long. The Superintendent's message echos more of the same from the School District.
The Budget Reality the District Isn’t Telling You
The state's budget deficit stands at nearly $2 billion, and within ASD, we're not just facing a $100 million deficit; the proposed House Bill 69 would balloon this to a staggering 1.5 billion dollar deficit in just 3 years.
The Numbers Don’t Match the Narrative
The numbers being used by the district are misleading. This is not speculation; check the facts on the DEED website, where it's clear that the spending per student across the state is $21,000, not the figure Dr. Jarrett has cited. We spend at 7th highest in the Nation, but are seeing 49th in results.

Mismanagement, Not the Legislature, Is the Core Issue
The superintendent continues to mislead by blaming the legislature for our woes, while ignoring the district’s "use it or lose it" budgeting mentality and the lack of accountability for how funds are spent.
Teachers Pay the Price for Irresponsible Budgeting
This has resulted in vast expenditures outside the classroom, leaving our teachers in constant fear of receiving that dreaded pink slip in their mailboxes once again.
The current ASD budget is not just unreasonable; it's a testament to years of irresponsible practices. It's time for a change on the board to ensure our community can thrive and our kids receive the best education possible.
Transparency After the Damage Is Done Isn’t Leadership
Now, after years of opacity, the district suddenly champions transparency. But why now? We need real, immediate change, not just promises of better communication.
What I Commit to Bringing to the Board
I pledge to bring:
Fiscal Responsibility
Ensuring every dollar is used effectively for our students' education.
Accountability
Overseeing spending with a focus on classroom needs, not administrative bloat.
Support for Teachers
Securing our educators' jobs and ensuring they have the resources they need.
Support leadership that puts classrooms first.Donate to Alex’s campaign or volunteer here.
Leadership Anchorage Schools Can Trust
Strong leadership is what our schools desperately need. I am committed to that leadership. Vote for me, Alexander Rosales, for a future where our schools are financially sound, transparent, and focused on providing an exceptional education to every student.
Election Reminder
Anchorage voters can cast their ballot for Anchorage School Board by April 7, 2026, via mail-in or in-person voting.
We recommend voting early.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Alexander Rosales
