As we approach the April 1, 2025, Anchorage School Board election, our campaign is dedicated to improving our schools through a nonpolitical, community-driven approach. I’ve spent the past two months, since January 13, 2025, engaging with Anchorage families where they are: at community councils, the VFW, the Air Force Sergeants Association, sporting events, band concerts, food trucks, School Choice Expo, etc. Without spending a dime on ads, we’ve organically reached 16,000–18,000 voters strictly online, at a rate of 7.6%–8.6% of Anchorage’s 210,000 eligible voters. This blog post shows how we’re connecting with parents and leaders to build better schools, free from political noise.
Our Digital Reach: Connecting Without Politics
Our grass-roots campaign leverages digital platforms to reach Anchorage families organically. Here’s what we’ve achieved as of March 18, 2025 with a guesstimated side by side comparison of my opponent with spending $50,000 on her campaign:

Instagram Insights – 6,736 views, 6,093 accounts reached, 99.4% non-followers
Our Instagram Reels have reached 6,736 viewers, with 99.4% from non-followers, new voters engaging with school issues. The IG account was just created last week. This is a very powerful tool to reach Gen Z. Apologies for taking so long! More videos are dropping by the hour!

YouTube Analytics – 5,719 views, 28 hours watch time
YouTube Shorts and videos have garnered 5,719 views and 28 hours of watch time, connecting with parents on education priorities. This is a significant amount of watch time in a short campaign. The message is getting out!

Facebook Insights – 17,449 views, 6h 44m watch time
Facebook posts reached 2,749 unique users, with 6 hours 44 minutes of watch time, showing deep community interest. The interest on FB peaked from the trolls referencing 'nazi supporter' by clipping one tweet on X without context. Free advertising from those spreading lies.

X Analytics – 50.2K impressions, 3.5K engagements
X posts achieved 50.2K impressions and 3.5K engagements, reaching 157 followers, including 55 verified, amplifying our message. The 7.1% engagement rate is exceptionally high for candidates. Normal engagement rates are under 3%. We are reaching voters on X.

Website Analytics – 1,413 sessions, 1,217 uniques
Our website saw 1,413 sessions and 1,217 unique visitors, with 6 form submissions, reflecting growing support. This is the data center for the campaign. This website is setting the standard for what we should expect from any candidate running for office. I am proving that I can operate efficiently in any new environment and produce results. www.margobellamy.com vs. www.alexforschoolboardak.com
Unlike my opponent’s paid, political approach, our reach is purely organic, built by engaging parents directly, not through ads or political events. None of us want to see more political mailers.
Engaging Where Parents Are: Nonpolitical Community Focus
I’ve focused my time and energy on nonpolitical spaces, attending community council meetings, VFW gatherings, AMAC, sporting events, ASD concerts, and Air Force Sergeants Association meetings, EagleExit etc. Anchorage’s community councils meet monthly, offering a platform to connect with hundreds of parents and leaders. The VFW and military associations, with strong ties to education for service members’ children, amplify our message among committed community members.
This strategy avoids political “shows,” focusing instead on education as a unifying issue. By meeting parents where they are, we’ve reached mayoral-level turnout (16,000–18,000 voters, matching past Anchorage mayoral votes of ~25,000), proving our grass-roots approach resonates.
Why This Matters for Anchorage Schools
Our reach and engagement directly support our goals for Anchorage schools: addressing the $68 million deficit, ensuring parental rights, and maintaining local control. With 14 days until the April 1 election (ballots mailed March 11), your support can help us win and build better schools for every child.
Unlike paid campaigns, our organic growth... 244 posts, 141 videos, and 4,000 interactions, shows Anchorage families trust our nonpolitical, community-first approach. We’re not here for politics; we’re here for education.
